Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC)

State Capital Improvement/Local Transportation Improvements Programs - Buckeye Hills serves as the liaison for District 18 of the SCIP/LTIP, funded by the OPWC. The programs provide funding for road, bridge, culvert, water, wastewater, solid waste, and storm water facility projects.

Over the course of the past 20 years the SCIP/LTIP Program has brought approximately one hundred forty million dollars into District 18 to assist local governments in developing infrastructure.

Clean Ohio Program - Buckeye Hills acts as the liaison for District 18 for portions of the Clean Ohio Program, funded by the State of Ohio. The program provides funding for Brownfield environmental clean-up projects, and Green Space open space conservation preservation projects.

To date the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund (Green Space) has assisted in protecting over 3,000 acres to be held as Open and Green Space in perpetuity. This has amounted to a nearly six million dollar investment in the environmental future of District 18. One such project is a 105 acre site near Athens, Ohio known as Hawk Woods. Hawk Woods is now a part of the Strouds Ridge Nature Preserve and includes approximately 85 acres of old growth forest that was slated to be timbered prior to this purchase.
