IMMEDIATE NEWS RELEASE
Buckeye Hills Business Development Coordinator and Trickle Up Coordinator to be at the Black Walnut Center November 30, 2006
Tina Meunier and Michelle Hyer of Buckeye Hills will be at the Black Walnut Center on November 30, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to meet with individuals interested in starting a new business or expanding a current business.
Tina Meunier, Business Development Coordinator, manages the agencys Revolving Loan Fund (RLF). The RLF offers loans in partnership with local lending institutions to individuals wishing to start their own business or existing businesses wishing to expand. Loans are for service, industrial, and retail businesses, and can be utilized for equipment, machinery, working capital, purchase of real estate, and renovations for businesses that are for-profit.
Michelle Hyer, Development Specialist, is the agencys Trickle Up Grant Coordinator. The Trickle Up Grant program is designed to help individuals start their own business or expand their business to the next level. The program is targeted at the most economically disadvantaged sectors of the population. Most businesses in the Trickle Up program are home based, such as crafts, jewelry or pottery. The program provides seed money in the form of a $700 grant. Trickle Up entrepreneurs are selected based on their business plan, their dedication to success and other relevant factors.
Funds are limited, so not all entrepreneurs seeking a grant will receive one. Entrepreneurs whose business plans are approved will receive $500 to invest in their microenterprise and after three (3) months will receive another $200 to continue building their business.
The Trickle Up Income Guidelines Are:
One person household must have an income of no more than $17,150
Two person households must have an income of no more than $23,100
Three person households must have an income of no more than $29,050
Four person households must have an income of no more than $35,000
Five persons households must have an income of no more than $40,950
Along with the grant, the entrepreneur will work along side our Trickle Up Coordinator to learn valuable lessons in creating long range plans, record keeping, and the importance of savings.
