Employee Spotlight Series: Christy Braham

In our 2019 Employee Spotlight Series, we are creating space to highlight the nearly 65 employees of Buckeye Hills Regional Council. Every year, we celebrate as a region the tremendous impact of our programs and services - an investment of nearly $1.2 billion into southeast Ohio since our inception in 1968 - but it’s our employees who work hard every day to breathe life into our mission and pour out into the eight-county region we serve.

Christy Braham

Christy is a Secretary/Receptionist for Buckeye Hills Regional Council and has been in her current position since March 2016.

 

  • What led you to your current position at Buckeye Hills?

Christy: Before I came to Buckeye Hills, I was an Office Manager for a doctor’s office that dealt with mental health. I came here on March 7th, 2016.

  • How would you describe your job to someone who is completely unfamiliar?

C: I answer and distribute phone calls. I get conference rooms ready for small to large groups. I keep an eye on our inventory and order supplies, as well as go through the mail and distribute it.

  • What do you find most rewarding about your position?

C: When we help senior citizens with any questions about our Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program or any other program. Also, when we start and finish a project ahead of time for some of our employees.

  • Why do you think the mission of Buckeye Hills is important to our region?

C: Our mission is so important because it reaches every citizen in our 8 counties. Our staff shows support to our seniors, improves and secures our infrastructure for the future, provides for ongoing transportation needs, and presents data about the future of our region.

  • What is one thing you wish more people realized about Buckeye Hills?

C: That we care about the future of our communities and our elderly population and how we can improve it for generations to come.

  • If you had to choose a favorite program, service, or initiative of Buckeye Hills, which would that be and why?

C: My favorite service of Buckeye Hills is helping our elderly population with Medicare. We show seniors how to navigate and make decisions on their health care to save money. Gerri VanNoy, Information & Assistance Specialist, helps seniors so much and she goes above and beyond to make sure they have what they need.

  • What are you looking forward to most in your position this year?

C: I look forward to helping support my fellow coworkers so they can continue excelling in their jobs.
