Athens County EDA Project

Leveraging nearly $8 million in funds from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and JobsOhio, the Athens County Port Authority is building a 60,000 square-foot facility to house biomedical, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing companies. The project is expected to create 150 jobs and generate $5 million in private investment.

Noble

Noble County Brownfield

The Noble County Board of Commissioners secured $1,043,500 in Brownfield and Demolition and Site Revitalization funding through the Ohio Department of Development in 2022 and 2023. These grant funds supported the removal of unusable underground storage tanks in Caldwell and Summerfield, as well as the demolition and revitalization of blighted properties in Belle Valley, Caldwell, and Summerfield.

Monroe

ARC Monroe Theatre

The Monroe Theatre secured over $260,000 in funding through the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for a balcony addition to increase seating capacity. The installation expands the theater’s seating to around 600 over its previous capacity of 350. This funding allows ticket prices to remain affordable and allows for the booking of larger shows.

Laurelville

The Village of Laurelville Wastewater Treatment Facilities Upgrade

Buckeye Hills Regional Council helped the Village of Laurelville build a capital stack of $2.5 million to upgrade its wastewater treatment facilities. Funding was made possible by Ohio EPA, Ohio Public Works Commission, Ohio Department of Development, and the Appalachian Regional Commission. By having adequate facilities, the villages would have the potential to maintain existing businesses and increase economic development opportunities.
